Ludlow Development gets the Green Light

Pickstock Homes is to build hundreds of new homes in Ludlow after securing permission for a scheme that met with overwhelming support from planning officers.

The development is located at Rocks Green, on the north east outskirts of Ludlow, on a parcel of former agricultural land with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside.

Phase one consists of 68 homes, with outline permission granted for a further 130 homes in phases two and three. The scheme was unanimously approved.

Featuring a tree-lined avenue spine road, the sustainable new development has been designed from an environmental perspective. All the existing hedges and trees will be retained to provide wildlife corridors through the site, along green footpaths with public right of way. In addition, a ‘green buffer’ will be planted to the eastern boundary, which abuts open countryside.

The generous plot sizes offer plenty of space to walk around all detached dwellings. Phase one comprises a mix of house types, including 12 two-bedroom semi-detached and terraced homes; 12 three-bedroom semi-detached properties; and 30 three-bedroom and 18 four-bedroom detached houses.

Ludlow is situated on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has a medieval castle that dates from around 1086, along with many other buildings of architectural and historic significance.

Work will begin on site in the summer of 2018.
